The below is a sample itinerary outline for a voyage in the Kimberley region based on what our seasoned guides here at Eclipse Expeditions feel captures the best of the area. Cygnet Bay | Welcome Aboard
Private van transfer from Broome to the Cygnet Bay Pearl Farm for an immersive Pearl Farm Tour.
Step on to your luxury sailing retreat “Eclipse”, in the early afternoon for a sunset cruise through the Buccaneer Archipelago accompanied by cocktails and canapes. This area lays claim to the magnificent Waterfall Reef, countless tidal phenomena and access to beautiful islands and beaches.
Dinner served shortly after sunset while cruising to your first beautiful anchorage in the Buccaneer Archipelago.
Buccaneer Archipelago | Horizontal Falls
Wake surrounded by the rugged islands and turquoise waters of Yampi Sound. Venture ashore at Crocodile Creek for a refreshing swim in striking Kimberley landscape before returning to Eclipse.
Spend the afternoon cruising past Koolan Island towards Talbot Bay, where immense tides have carved a remarkable landscape. Explore the bay, admire Cyclone Creek and marvel at the famous natural phenomenon of the Horizontal Falls as our expedition tender edges past the falls.
Talbot Bay | Dugong Bay
Wake in the wilderness of Dugong Bay and take advantage of the morning's low tides with a fishing expedition in its productive creeks and waterways. Whether you're an experienced angler or casting a line for the first time, our crew will be on hand to guide the experience.
Later, take a scenic tender past to 'Turtle Falls' before venturing ashore for a scenic walk to McNabb's waterfall, where a secluded freshwater swimming hole provides the perfect place to cool off. Return to Eclipse to admire a spectacular Kimberley sunset before enjoying another divine chef prepared meal
Montgomery Reef | Red Cone Creek
From the Kingfisher Islands, set sail for one of the Kimberley's great natural wonders — Montgomery Reef. As the tide falls, watch this vast reef seemingly rise from the ocean, creating cascading waterfalls and attracting an extraordinary concentration of marine life.
Over lunch, cruise towards Red Cone Creek, passing the imposing landscapes of Raft Point and Steep Island. Spend the afternoon exploring on foot before cooling off beneath the freshwater cascades of Sapphire Falls or in the hidden billabong above Ruby Falls.
The afternoon will offer opportunities for fishing or simply lazing back and relaxing onboard your luxury sailing retreat.
Raft Point | Eagle Point Creek
Wake beneath the striking sandstone cliffs of Raft Point before cruising into Eagle Point Creek for a morning shaped by the tides.
Cast a line in search of the Kimberley's iconic barramundi and set pots for mud crabs among the mangrove-lined waterways. With only a handful of guests onboard, our crew can tailor the day's activities to the conditions and your interests.
Silica Beach | Whirlpool Passage
Today showcases the remarkable diversity of the Buccaneer Archipelago.
Step ashore at beautiful Silica Beach, where brilliant white sand meets clear Kimberley waters, and enjoy a relaxed beach lunch in spectacular surrounds.
Later, experience the powerful tidal movements and extraordinary geology of Whirlpool Passage before exploring the surrounding islands, with opportunities for fishing, sightseeing and discovering secluded pockets of coastline accessible only by smaller expedition vessel.
King Sound | Island Wilderness
Enjoy a final day immersed in the remote beauty of the Southern Kimberley as Eclipse sails across King Sound.
Spend the afternoon exploring by expedition tender, sightseeing amongst the islands and, conditions permitting, casting for giant trevally.
As the sun begins to set, step ashore for a beach bonfire and dinner beneath the Kimberley sky — a fitting finale to a week of adventure, wilderness and unforgettable shared experiences.
Cygnet Bay | Farewell Eclipse
Wake to your final Kimberley sunrise as Eclipse makes her way back into Cygnet Bay.
Enjoy a cooked breakfast onboard before disembarking at approximately 8.00am, taking with you the memories of remote anchorages, hidden waterfalls, remarkable wildlife and a side of the Kimberley few travellers ever have the opportunity to experience.
Your return private transfer from Cygnet Bay will have you back in Broome just before lunch time for hotel check in or an afternoon flight back to reality.
