What began as a big dream has turned into an incredible reality—beyond anything we could have imagined. The story of Eclipse Expeditions’ creation and success in its first year of operation is nothing short of monumental.
To celebrate the dream coming true, we sat down with our passionate owner-operators and vibrant crew to chat about their highlights and favourite memories from our first year. Our team delighted in recounting tales of adventure, moments of calm, and times of immense pressure and excitement.
When asked about his vision for Eclipse, owner and co-captain Jackson Howson said, “To continue giving amazing experiences to guests—and to deliver this incredible environment, holidays, and tailored itineraries with years of knowledge behind us—is truly exciting.”
Together, we watched with anticipation as our brand-new vessel was launched in Cape Town for the very first time. We witnessed happy couples renew their vows under a hidden Kimberley waterfall, and we smiled as a family enjoyed precious time together in the picturesque coves of the South West. When we asked Will what his favourite moment from our first year was, he responded, “There have been so many—it’s hard to choose. Just look at the sunset out here right now!”
Through it all, we’ve remained unified and supportive of one another—and that’s what makes this journey truly special. The Eclipse experience is more than a holiday. It’s an immersive journey that brings you closer to nature and into sync with the people creating these unforgettable moments. Chef Will put it beautifully: “The intimacy and connection between crew and guests makes the Eclipse experience special… we’re all a family in one of the most amazing places in the world.”

As Hannah said, “Being a part of bringing the boys’ incredible and unique dreams to life has been so heartwarming… seeing guests love every minute of the experience our team is delivering—it’s an incredible feeling.”
We have overcome immense challenges and pulled off incredible feats of craftsmanship and logistics to deliver top-tier travel experiences for the guests who put their trust in us during our inaugural cruising year. Their glowing reviews and kind words have given us the confidence to know we’re onto something truly special, and we are so excited to continue delivering world-class service and unrivalled experiences in the remote and remarkable destinations along WA’s coastline—well beyond our first birthday.
“For me, what I love most about running Eclipse Expeditions is the people and the regions we go to… being able to see how bewildered they are, and when they thank you for an amazing trip—you can just see how excited they are. It’s something I’ll never tire of,” said Jackson, with a glimmer in his eye.
